Young Royals season 2: release date, cast, trailer for Netflix series

Their blossoming romance is forced into the public sphere by a nefarious rival, however, prompting scandal in the media, which forces Prince Wilhelm to choose between his love and his duty to the throne.

We'll soon find out the consequences of that choice and see whether the monarch-in-waiting can find true happiness, with six brand new episodes landing on Netflix in November.

Young Royals season 2 release date

Young Royals season 2 will be available to stream on Netflix from Tuesday 1st November 2022.

The latest chapter of the show will once again be comprised of six episodes, which will be released all at once as one of the streamer's trademark binge-watch launches.

Fans have had a long time to wait for a follow-up to the shocking season one finale, with Young Royals being renewed for a second season a little over a year ago in September 2021.

Young Royals is filmed in various locations around Sweden.

Young Royals season 2 cast

The Young Royals cast are back in full for season 2, led by Edvin Ryding (Gåsmamman) as Prince Wilhelm, who is forced to choose between his love and his duty by his forceful mother, Queen Kristina (as played by Pernilla August).

Omar Rudberg co-stars as his former lover and fellow student, Simon, although their relationship was left in a precarious state following the devastating events of the season 1 finale.

Malte Gårdinger also appears as Prince Wilhelm's treacherous second cousin, August, who is particularly high-flying as both prefect and rowing team captain at the elite boarding school, Hillerska.

Meanwhile, Frida Argento plays Simon's sister Sara, who struggles in some social situations due to her autism and ADHD, and Nikita Uggla returns as "new money" student Felice.

Young Royals season 2 plot

*Warning: major spoilers ahead for Young Royals season 1*

In the Young Royals season 1 finale, Wilhelm chooses royal duty over love: after a sex tape of him and Simon is leaked online (by none other than the royal's cousin August), Wilhelm publicly denies that it's him in the video.

He later explains to Simon that he hopes they can conduct a secret romance, but that's not enough for Simon, who breaks things off between them.

However, by the end of the final episode it's clear that the former couple still have feelings for each other, despite Wilhelm's decision to obey his mother (the queen) and prioritise his new role as Crown Prince.

Young Royals season 2 picks up soon after the events of the first, as the students of Hillerska return from Christmas break for another dramatic semester, with Wilhelm and Simon again at the centre of everything.
